Position Summary:
The Marketing Specialist plays a pivotal role in executing comprehensive marketing initiatives. Reporting to the Marketing Manager and in collaboration with Marketing team members, consultants and agencies, the Specialist will help plan and execute marketing campaigns and lead social media marketing efforts for United Food Bank. The Specialist will collaborate with both external partners and internal teams for effective communication and marketing strategies in order to achieve our organizational strategic goals of alleviating hunger in our community and service areas. This position will primarily focus on United Food Bank, while also dedicating approximately 10% of time to Waste Not, as a second brand managed by the organization.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Social Media Marketing (35%)
- Manage day-to-day social media activity for both brands using Sprout Social, including content scheduling, monitoring, and performance tracking.
- Create engagement content, including short-form video content (Instagram Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts) that is on-brand.
- Capture and edit videos/photos at events and food distributions to support ongoing storytelling efforts.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of social media efforts
Marketing Content & Collateral (40%)
- Assist with making content updates to the website and other online listings as needed
- Collaborate with Marketing Manager and outside vendors on updating and implementing brand standards
- Develop monthly email newsletters and assist with email marketing campaigns
- Develop and oversee the creation of diverse marketing collateral, including flyers and promotional materials
- Assist with capturing photos/videos at events, tours, volunteer sessions, and agency visits throughout the company for internal and external use
- Collaborate with storyteller to drive development of engaging stories that speak to target audiences
Analytics & General Support (25%)
- Track and report on digital performance metrics using Google Analytics and native platform dashboards.
- Contribute to marketing team operations, including asset organization and campaign calendar management.
- Support general marketing needs and assist where needed to ensure projects move forward on time and on message.
Qualifications
- Passion for alleviating hunger and aligning with our mission and values
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s degree (A.A.) (or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school) and 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-3 years of professional marketing experience with a focus on social media and content marketing
- Comfortable using or learning AI tools to support content creation and editing workflows
- Proficient in or familiar with Sprout Social, Mailchimp, Canva, WordPress, and Google Analytics (or comparable tools)
- Computer proficiency in Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Software, specifically Word and Excel
- Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision and adapt to shifting priorities
- PR and event coordination experience a plus
- Photography/Videography experience a plus
- Proficient in creating diverse marketing collateral and promotional materials
- Experience executing social media strategies and campaigns
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment
- Detail-oriented and self-motivated individual
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to the needs of the food bank
- Ability to effectively analyze situations and resolve routine and complex problems
- Adept at handling multiple tasks and concurrent projects
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
