The Development and Food Drive Intern at St. Mary’s Food Bank is responsible for providing administrative and general support to the St. Mary’s Corporate Giving team. The role provides the intern opportunities to gain experience in and familiarity with areas such as project management, fundraising, community outreach, and day-to-day operations of a nonprofit organization. The Development and Food Drive intern will report to the Food Drive Coordinator and will support the Corporate Giving team.

Essential Functions

  • Work with food drive coordinator to complete registration forms as they come in
  • Schedule delivery and pick up of boxes/donations
  • Generate food, water and fund drive thank you certificates
  • Assist in organization and implementation of awareness and giving campaigns
  • Attend offsite events on behalf of St. Mary’s as necessary including the Saturday before Thanksgiving
  • Assist with the holiday meal distribution program leading up to Thanksgiving
  • Assist the food drive coordinator in entering data into Ceres, St. Mary’s food donor database
  • Responsible for photography for check presentations and other marketing related requests
  • Contact current and lapsed food drive donors
  • Handle incoming calls for the Development Department as needed
  • Perform data clean-up projects as assigned
  • Engage with donors and process walk-in monetary donations.
  • Any other duties assigned by the team

Qualifications

Physical Demands/Environment Factors

  • May be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone.
  • May require off-site events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be working towards a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or University
  • Interest in the fields of community outreach, program management, and nonprofit management
  • Able to commit to approximately 20 hours a week, Monday- Friday
  • Able to commit to working one Saturday
  • Strong organization skills, accurate, and detail-oriented
  • Strong work ethic, ability to learn quickly and adapt to change
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently to establish and manage work priorities, activities and timelines to achieve results
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel), email and calendaring applications.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to St. Mary’s Food Bank mission and values
