About the Position
The Director of Philanthropy leads WFSA’s fundraising strategy and execution, with a focus on cultivating individual, corporate and foundation support. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position plays a central role in sustaining and expanding the organization’s mission-driven work. This is a highly collaborative role - working across departments to align donor engagement with programmatic vision.
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with an annual salary of $85,000 with regular opportunities for review and enhancement. While this position is currently remote, the final candidate’s primary residence must be within the state of Arizona.

Qualifications
About the Candidate
You’re a relationship builder who thrives on connecting vision with values. You have experience in nonprofit development and a track record of meeting fundraising goals. You know how to craft a winning ask, tell a compelling story and show donors how their gifts matter. You’re organized, self-motivated and comfortable working in a collaborative, remote environment. You believe in equity, community and the power of collective investment.
As WFSA’s sole development staff member, you’re ready to own and lead all aspects of fundraising strategy and execution, working in close partnership with the CEO.
- You bring at least 5 years of experience in direct fundraising, strategy development and donor management
- You have successfully secured 5-, 6-, and 7-figure gifts from individuals, foundations and/or corporate partners, demonstrating strategic thinking and donor alignment
- You’re skilled at establishing a major gift pipeline and cultivating existing donors to deepen relationships and inspire long-term support
You’re eager to grow WFSA’s donor base by identifying and engaging new prospects and fostering a culture of giving - You are well versed in donor databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred) and fundraising best practices
- Your experience includes familiarity with Arizona’s philanthropic landscape
- You’ve developed and managed annual fundraising budgets and forecasts
- You enjoy partnering with leadership and programs to align fundraising with organizational needs
- You possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- You bring a demonstrated commitment to equity and cultural competence across lines of race, gender, identity and lived experience
- You’re a respectful, ethical and values-aligned representative of WFSA
- You bring genuine passion for advancing gender equity and systemic change
- You’re tech-comfortable, remote-savvy and able to manage your time and tasks independently
