Student Assistant, Donor Engagement

The Student Assistant, Donor Engagement plays a supportive role on the ASU Foundation (ASUF) team that is responsible for enhancing donor experiences and fostering meaningful connections through ASU President’s Club and ASU Women and Philanthropy. Under general guidance, the student assistant provides administrative support, helps with project coordination, assists with data entry and event preparation, and contributes to the overall success of donor engagement activities.

This position is ideal for a detail-oriented student interested in learning more about donor relations, nonprofit work, or higher education advancement.

The role requires approximately 15–20 hours per week during the academic year, with additional availability during university breaks.

 

What you'll do

  • Supports the Donor Engagement team with a variety of administrative and operational tasks that contribute to the success of donor engagement initiatives
  • Assists in preparing, assembling, and executing mailings and print projects, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
  • Provides data entry support for key databases, tracking systems, and reports to maintain organized and up-to-date donor and membership information
  • Supports the management of donor and member lists, including updating records, organizing digital files, and assisting with membership renewals and acknowledgments
  • Provides administrative and logistical support for the ASU Women and Philanthropy grant process, including organizing materials, preparing documents, and assisting with meeting coordination
  • Assists with administrative tasks and coordination efforts related to Volunteer Engagement and the Cornerstone Legacy Society, including preparing materials, organizing communications, and supporting recognition activities
  • Assists in the planning, preparation, and execution of engagement events and meetings, including coordination of materials, set-up, and on-site support as needed
  • Delivers excellent customer service to donors, volunteers, and internal stakeholders
  • Maintains a professional demeanor at all times and represents the Donor Engagement team with courtesy and confidentiality
  • Utilizes Microsoft Office and other software tools to complete tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Completes additional tasks and special projects as assigned in support of team objectives
  • Works approximately 15–20 hours per week during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.), with schedule arranged around academic commitments

Qualifications

  • Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment 
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and University business and confidential prospect information
  • Strong and collegial interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by phone
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible 
  • Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies
  • Ability to represent the institution well and possess an advocate’s belief in the vision of ASU as the New American University
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects
  • Adept at navigating complex environments with evolving priorities and communication plans
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products

Relevant qualifications

  • A current student at Arizona State University pursuing a degree in a related field with a willingness to learn and ability to work well with others.
  • Must be willing to sign and abide by a confidentiality agreement.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a driving record in good standing
