About the Position

As a Contact Center Specialist, you will connect County residents with the various assistance programs and support services the Human Services Department offers. This critical role helps individuals navigate the various financial, educational, career, legal, and other support services available through the Human Services Department.

This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2026. The work schedule is 9/80, with every other Friday off.

Job Contributions 

  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries about the programs and services offered through the Maricopa County Human Services Department, community resources, and external services
  • Provide information on community resources, information and referrals for various social service programs
  • Provide exceptional customer service in a high-volume call center environment
  • Provide client navigation to additional programs and services as the client identifies needs during interactions
  • Stay current with programs and services to ensure the accuracy of information and services provided to clients
  • Monitor work queues, perform data entry, gather client feedback, and provide suggestions for process improvement
  • Enter requests and applications into multiple databases, as appropriate by program/service
  • Use Evidence-Based coaching methods and tools during client interactions.
  • Elevate issues to appropriate resources per established procedures and ensure follow-up to resolution

Working Conditions

  • Work is routinely performed in an office environment, which may require long sitting, reading, and typing periods of sitting, reading, and typing. Requires travel to program sites throughout Maricopa County
  • The position may require occasional travel to and from various county, client, and contractor locations during a scheduled workday, subject to County policies regarding the use of County vehicles and/or private vehicles used on County business
  • Must possess or can obtain and maintain an Arizona Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card

Qualifications

We Require

  • Two years of experience performing specialized office, administrative, or clerical duties, to include one year of customer service in social services
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for one year of the experience requirement

We Also Value

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of various Internet browsers
  • Experience working in human services
